IIT Placements Start With a Bang with Crore plus Salary Packages
The packages worth $100,000 excluding relocation charges or joining bonus has been offered by Oracle, Microsoft, Google, Visa and employment related search engine Indeed. Total package offered by companies like Google valued more than Rs2crore also. Early predictions by IIT sources revealed an expectation in rise of both salary and number of hiring especially from domestic companies. IIT sources say, Microsoft and Oracle offered base pay ranging around $100,000- $110,000. If variables and perks are considered in this, the value can shoot up to $125,000- $140,000. Another company ready to offer a fat package was Visa worth $115,000, sources said. Breaking the last year record of 93lakh per annum, this time, three students of IIT Kharagpur bagged offers worth 1.4crore per annum not including all perks and facilities. In the first day of hiring, 37 companies participated in the IIT placement cell. Companies that were expected to be apart but went unavailable are Uber International, Twitter and ServiceNow. IIT Madras and Mumbai had Bloomberg UK among the top recruiters. Scene at IIT Madras remained little critical due to the rains. However, Microsoft made three international offers, Oracle made 1 while Bloomberg UK recruited 2 and kept two in wait list also. Other companies at the Madras campus included Texas Instruments, Samsung R&D, Goldman Sachs, BCG. Facebook, another glamorous recruiter was not present on campus but has made some pre hirings with crore plus packages from the pass out batch of 2016. AT IIT Mumbai, the recruiter list included Tower Research Capital, Goldman Sachs and Sony Japan. Engineering companies like Shell, GE, Airbus and Tata Steel were also seen here. The IITs were reluctant to speak about the recent updation in salary offers made by All-IITs placement Committee. Placement sources considered WorldQuant with Rs41 lakh per annum as one of the top notch paymasters.
